Taiga Kasai is a newer name who announced themselves with a genuinely striking Houndoom full art. Houndoom's Pokédex entry describes its howl as "the call of the grim reaper," and Kasai's card makes you believe it — all menace and shadow. Kasai earned the shot after placing as a runner-up in Pokémon's 2022 illustration contest, and that Houndoom is a great example of an artist reading a Pokémon's character and running with it. Still early days, but on this evidence, definitely one to watch.
