Miki Tanaka is proper old-guard — she's been illustrating Pokémon cards since 1997, which puts her right there near the very beginning of the whole thing. That's close to thirty years of cards, which makes her one of the longest-serving artists in the game, full stop. She's never been the flashiest name, but that kind of quiet, decades-long consistency is its own achievement, and her work has been a steady presence through era after era. She also illustrates for books, magazines and ads outside Pokémon. One of those veterans who've been part of the furniture since day one.
